This course is designed for students who have a good working beginners knowledge and are ready to move up to the advanced stage. The included CD-ROM contains live demonstrations of how some of the more involved tables work, as well as videos of advanced tuning sessions. We provide the same type of explanations of how to adjust those tables properly for your type of tune, as we did with the beginners guide. With the CD-ROM, this is not just another book class, and with the year of support via phone, email, and private forum, you are never alone in your tuning.
Students who already have the beginners course will notice the layout of the advanced is different than the beginners version. The Advanced course is broken up by section for the type of tuning you are doing, such as “Idle”, “Part Throttle”, etc…

Topics on the VCM Scanner section of the course include in depth answers and setup for Fuel Trims, Histograms (custom and configuration), Gauges, Table Insertion and custom PID’s including Boost, gas Mileage (MPG), custom triggers & filters, and much more. Effective use of VCM Scanner’s Live commands, for such uses as advanced idle tuning, dyno tuning, etc… More detailed transmission scanning and it’s workings, and much more. There are at least 25 individual VCM Scanner topics included and described for you to learn.

Topics on the VCM Editor section of the course include operating system overwriting, MAF Patches (why and how to), Speed Density tuning (both street and race), Wet and Dry Nitrous Tuning, High Boost (2 or 3 bar) Turbo/Supercharged Tuning of extended VE Boost tables (from custom OS), Correct MAF Calibration, MAF Calibration for new sensors, Knock Sensor improvements, Complex Charge Temp, Realtime Tuning, Fuel Economy Tuning, new 6 speed Automatic tuning, Power tuning the Idle and Part Throttle zones and much more. There are at least 40 Individual VCM Editor topics included and described for you to learn.

ABOUT BOB

Bob Morreale

Bob Morreale is the author of several tuning related books and manuals. He wrote his first book, BM Computer Source Guide to Chip Burning (1999), to guide first-time tuners through the turbocharged Buick Grand National software and tuning methods. His second book, Tuning the Right Way (2007), is a manual based on the HP Tuners software but also applies tuning knowledge to tuning of any EFI system.

Bob has over ten years of tuning experience, having successfully tuned everything from the legendary turbocharged 1987 Buick Grand Nationals to 1940s big-block supercharged Willys (using FAST EFI system) to modern day LS2 Corvettes boasting 680+supercharged RWHP. Bob has also written numerous technical articles for industry-standard magazines.

He is well versed in airflow dynamics. His experience comes from his background in cylinder head porting and flowbench testing, as well as camshaft design and total engine power development.

EFI 101

Fundamentals of High Performance Engine Tuning
Using Aftermarket Electronic Fuel Injection

The most highly attended class we offer is called EFI 101.
EFI 101 consists of a total of 1½ days and focuses mainly on classroom discussions followed by an actual live tuning demonstration on a dynomometer.

This class begins with a general overview of the basic functions and theory involved in controlling an engine using electronic fuel injection.

In depth discussions about each sensor and actuator used, and their functions are held throughout the session with emphasis on interaction between students and instructors to ensure that everyone understands each concept before progressing to the next.

Once the entire EFI system and its components have been discussed, the class moves into discussions on the basic concepts of how the engine operates and the methods used to actually tune the calibration. Specific attention is paid to understanding how the process of computing the correct engine control is accomplished and the common methods of progression through the tuning process from beginning to end.

After a brief discussion on construction practices used in building a custom EFI system which includes wiring tips and fuel system sizing to match the engine requirements, a live demonstration of tuning will be provided by the instructor to really bring home the concepts discussed in the classroom environment.

If you’re still not convinced that this class has all the components of successful EFI tuning, then check out the full EFI-101 Course Outline. Everything to be discussed is shown in this outline.

When you take the EFI-101 Course you will learn the answers to these important questions…

  • How can I tell exactly how much Ignition Advance my engine wants at every RPM or Load?
  • How can I tune ANY type of engine to its maximum potential without the fear of damaging it EVERY TIME, even if I have no experience with that particular combination?
  • Why do Some engines want Rich A/F ratios and others want Lean ones?
  • How can I tell if my engine has the proper A/F ratio for any given RPM or LOAD?
  • What is the right procedure for tuning my engine from scratch….Ignition first, then fuel, or Fuel first, then Ignition?
  • How do Air and Coolant temperatures affect my tuning strategy?
  • … and many more

Who Should Attend? This class is very well suited to anyone who is interested in learning about electronic fuel injection from the ground up. The class will give you all the information and basic skills to start on your way to building and safely tuning your own EFI systems.

Typically racers, younger tuners, students, mechanics, and general performance enthusiasts will enjoy the benefits of attending an EFI 101 Class. The class is very important for anyone who wishes to begin tuning engines using electronic fuel injection whether they are completely new or a seasoned tuner using outdated equipment like carburetors and distributors.

What else do you get? When you register and attend the EFI-101 class, you’ll also receive…

  • The EFI-101 Course Binder – Over 60 pages of reliable EFI Tuning information that you can reference later.
  • EFI-101 Certificate of Completion – Signed and ready to frame.
  • Exclusive Access to the Student Forums – Access to professional advice on any technical EFI issues.

wordpress_calibrated_logoSecrets of EFI Calibration – Presented by Greg Banish

Calibrated Success provides EFI tuning, training, and consulting services to the performance industry.  With experience in both OEM engineering and aftermarket performance, Calibrated Success is uniquely prepared to provide the best tuning and performance consulting in the industry.  With so many training options out there today, it’s tough to know who to trust.  Simply put there’s no replacement for the technical knowledge that comes from a formal mechanical engineering education (book smarts) and full time employment as an OEM calibration engineer or seat time actually tuning high performance cars (street smarts) of many different hardware, software and dyno combinations.  These are earned over years of dedication and Calibrated Success brings a lot of both with a good dose practicality.  Going beyond the “This is how we’ve always done it” aftermarket approach is absolutely necessary with today’s complex control systems, and a strong fundamental knowledge is a requirement for getting the best results out of any EFI system today.  Classes are fun and friendly, where students are encouraged to interact throughout the program and ask questions any time.  We work with other shop owners, software companies, and enthusiasts to get the most out of their tuning time and resources.  Nobody becomes an expert overnight, but the first step is getting the right knowledge.  One hundred horsepower or a thousand, we can help.
